Vattenfall Customer & Solutions Projects Team develops and implements all of Vattenfall's new-build heating plant projects in conventional and new technologies. The Engineering Department consists of an international team of highly qualified engineers from different disciplines and is responsible for the development and execution of the technical project workstream.

For each project, team of engineers is selected. This team manages the technical solution development, execution processes and coordinates the installation, commissioning and hand-over of the new plant to the future operator in consultation with the stakeholders. In addition, the Engineering Department supports the projects with schedule preparation, investment cost estimation, quality management and quality standards.

In order to support the development and implementation of our technical activities in an extensive project portfolio, we are looking to recruit a Civil Engineer for projects based in the Netherlands.

What will you do?

As a Civil Engineer, your tasks are varied and are crucial to the success of a project.

Here are the key responsibilities:

•    Responsible for all civil related activities in a project in all project phases (development, establishment, and realisation)

•    Responsible for civil interfaces and interfaces to other disciplines.

•    Coordination of preparation of civil related engineering deliverables.

•    Contribution to permit preparation.

•    Managing of site preparation, demolition and soil decontamination works.

•    Supporting of procurement process with preparation of Invitation to Tender sections and evaluation of bids and participation in negotiations.

•    Responsible for the contract related review of civil engineering documents.

•    Manage external engineering partners (structural engineer, fire protection, noise expert, HVAC, soil investigation expert etc.).

•    Responsible for the adjustment of applicable quality standards to the specific project.

•    Support quality, site management, commissioning, HSSE, cost estimation, scheduling, and HSSE-in Design with Civil expertise.

Your Profile

Who are you?

We are seeking a candidate with the following qualifications, knowledge and experience:

•    Bachelors or Masters university degree in Civil Engineering or alternatively relevant technical school qualifications.

•    A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction within the industrial sector, preferably experience gained in oil & gas or energy industries.

•    Proficy in both Dutch and English, with strong spoken and written communication skills.

•    Robust knowledge of civil engineering with significant practical experience gained from realisation of civil scope of industrial process engineering plants.

•    Self-starting attitude and a strong focus on health & safety, and safety in design.

•    Willingness to travel to sites in the Netherlands twice a week; these are currently located at Rotterdam harbour and in Leiden area.

•    Experience of building and maintaining good working relationships between Client and contractor.

•    Experience in working with contaminated soils and complex subsoils.
